ST. AGATHA – Velma (Guerrette) Thibeault, 87, passed away May 25, 2013, at Northern Maine Medical Center, Fort Kent. Velma was born May 14, 1926, in St. Agatha, daughter of Donat and Jane (Tardif) Guerrette.
Velma raised a family of 13 children on a small farm in St. Agatha. Her most valuable possessions were her children and keeping track of how everyone was doing. She loved to cook and bake for all of them, especially her delicious pies and peanut butter fudge. She spent many years cooking for the sisters at Daughters of Wisdom and volunteered for the monthly senior citizens luncheons. She was a member of the ladies St. Anne for 33 years, American Auxiliary Cyr-Plourde Unit No. 145, Frenchville, for 45 years and St. Agatha Fire Department Auxiliary for many years.
She is survived by four daughters, Jeanne D’arc Cote of Bristol, Conn., Sherene and Philip Pelletier of Frenchville, Shirley and Robert Campagna of St. David and Janice Guerrette of Madawaska; seven sons, Jerry and Sandra of Wolcott, Conn., Percy and Claudette of Frenchville, Philip and Rina of Madawaska, Raymond and Jocelyn, Danny and Linda, Roger and Carol and Jeffery; daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Thibeault, all of Bristol, Conn.; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Fernande Taraskewich of Waterbury, Conn., Lorraine Plourde of Prospect, Conn., and Charlene Shannon of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; three brothers, Donald and Therese of Chesire, Conn., Milton and Mattie of Wolcott, Conn., and Robert and Jeannette of Madawaska; and sister-in-law, Lorraine Guerrette, of Middlebury, Conn. Velma was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Thibeault, in 1995; two sons, Jimmy and Ricky; five brothers, Normand, Bertrand, Roger, Clifford and Harold; and sister, Priscilla Langton. Velma will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Friends and family may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, and 9 a.m. until time of services Wednesday, May 29, at Michaud Funeral Home, St. Agatha. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Our Lady of the Valley Church, St. Agatha, with the Rev. David Raymond officiating.
