EAST MILLINOCKET – Eugene H. “Gene” Smith, 80, husband of the late Beverly J. Smith, passed away June 13, 2013, at his home. He was born July 30, 1932, in Millinocket, son of Nelson E. and Ann “Mooney” Smith.
He worked at Great Northern Paper Co., East Millinocket, retiring in 1987. Gene was a graduate of Schenck High School in 1950. He loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by a brother, Francis Smith and Jeannette of Arizona; four boys and their wives, Sam and Connie, Scot and Wendi, Sterling and Lynne, and Gene and Marlene; 22 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Beverly J. Smith, he was predeceased by two brothers, Nelson Smith Jr. and Samuel Smith.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services. Interment will be at a later date at Grindstone Road Cemetery, Medway. Gifts in memory of Gene may be sent to Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O.
