CALAIS – Geraldine F. Bailey, 75, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013, in Bangor, with her family by her side. Geraldine was born Sept. 3, 1937, to Horace and Maize (Moses) Parker in Deer Island, New Brunswick, Canada, where she lived during the earlier years of her childhood.
She eventually ended up in Calais where she met and then married Warren “Beetle” Bailey, Sept. 28, 1955. She enjoyed dancing and singing, loved to do crafts and could often be found shopping or stopping by a yard sale. A hard worker, Geraldine worked many jobs around Calais including waitressing and wreath making but the job she loved most was raising her four children. Geraldine was known by her grandchildren and many others as “Nanny Beetle.”
In addition to her parents, Geraldine was predeceased by her husband, Warren W. Bailey; and sister, Hazel Brown. Survivors include her four children, William Bailey of Gulfport, Miss., Larry Bailey and wife, Cathy, Ricky Bailey and wife, Cindy, all of Calais and Tammi Seeley and husband, Ricky, of Baileyville; three sisters, Rosamund Merritt of Calais, Lorraine Cline of Deer Island, New Brunswick and Eleanor McCray and husband, Edward, of Baileyville; nine grandchildren, Ricky Bailey and wife, Emily, Larry Bailey, Brittany Seavey and husband, Steve, Danielle Faulkner and husband, Chris, Scott Bailey and fiancée, Mary, Lyndsay Wood and husband, Nate, Tyson Seeley, Gina Bailey and Jakob Jarrett; three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Parker, Tobin; one little great-granddaughter on the way; several nieces and nephew and a special friend who was with Geraldine during her last days, Elizabeth Seeley.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at Calais Cemetery with Pastor Robert Hinton officiating. Services by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.maysfuneralhome.com.
