BRADLEY and HAYNESVILLE – Essie Emily McCannell, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, June 27, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. She was born June 5, 1927, in Haynesville, daughter of Clayton and Pearl (Tuck) Malone.
Essie enjoyed spending time with family, going for walks, playing cards, Jeannie’s Country Jam, and special family reunions. She resided in Haynesville before moving to Bradley in 2001. She was a member of Haynesville Baptist Church, attended Stillwater Federated Church, and belonged to Stillwater Federated Women’s Club. She served as a ballot clerk and worked various jobs as well as assisting her husband in several business ventures.
She is survived by three daughters, Donna Crawford of Drew Plantation, Janis Hanington and husband, Raymond, of Bradley, and Patricia McCannell and Belinda Cates of Bradley; four grandchildren, Julie Howland and husband, Todd, Roger Austin and wife, Lynna, Percy Crawford and wife, Anita, and Wendy Hayes and husband, Barret; several great-grandchildren; three sisters, Kathleen Bartlett, Nina Bell and Barbara Aldrich; two brothers, Cedric Malone and Elwin Malone; special sister-in-law, Ruth McCannell; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald McCannell; one sister; and seven brothers.
A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at Haynesville Baptist Church, burial will be afterward at Riverside Cemetery.
