CROSS LAKE and RANDOLPH, Vt. – Gary Bennett Delaney, 70, passed away June 26, 2013. He was born Dec. 22, 1942, in Stamford, Conn.
Gary married Valada Bourgoine of New Sweden, Nov. 7, 1964. He graduated from Randolph (Vt.) Union High School, in 1961. He attended Castleton State College and Vermont Technical College. He worked as a civil engineer and as a solar home designer where he felt he had a positive impact on the environment. He was active at St. Johns Church, Randolph, Vt., and Trinity Lutheran Church, Stockholm. He was a chartered member of Kiwanis Circle K Club, Castleton College. He and his wife co-chaired the student selection committee for AFS International. He was a member of the Jaycees, assistant scout master for the Boy Scouts where he earned The Order of the Arrow, Wood Badge and the District Award of Merit.
He was predeceased by his father, Morgan; mother, Nadia; and brother, Kenneth. Along with is wife, Valada Delaney of Cross Lake, he also leaves his two sons and their families, Shannon and friend, Margorie Riley, of Burlington, Vt., and Chad and wife, Tammy, of Dresden; two grandchildren, Makenna and Liam; brother, Darryl and sister-in-law, Deborah; nieces and a nephew.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of Gary’s life will be held 10 a.m. July 5 at Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Bob Smith. Burial will be at Randolph Center Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Boy Scout troop; or Aroostook Hospice House of Comfort, 255 Caribou Road, P.O. Box 867, Presque Isle, ME 04769. Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
