ORLAND AND MURPHY, N.C. – On June 29, 2013, the Lord called home the most compassionate, funny, loving, joyful, outgoing, friendly man we know; our dad, Richard Gamble. He was born April 1, 1947, in Prospect.
Dad enjoyed the simple things in life … riding his Harley with his wife and friends, playing board games with his family, cooking lobster on the beach, spoiling his grandkids, and he loved a good joke … the dirtier the better. Rick was a proud Union Ironworker, belonging to Maine Local No. 496 and Local No. 7 in Massachusetts.
He will be deeply missed by his soulmate, Brenda Gamble of North Carolina; children, Karie McBride and husband, Michael, of Texas, Guy Michael Gamble and wife, Carrie, of Hancock, Christie Holden and husband, Rupert, of Orland, Laurie Cunningham and husband, BJ, of Orland, and Jason McGuire of North Carolina; granddaughters, Allyssa Torrey of Trenton, Gabrielle McBride of Texas, Kayla and Kelsey McGuire of Bucksport; two grandsons, Dakota and Levi Cunningham of Orland; sister, Jenny Toothacher and husband, Roger, of Old Town; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including his best friend, Tom Ryan. We envision our dad adjusting his dog, Ginger’s motorcycle goggles and tossing rocks with his German shepherd, Lacy. We are blessed to have had him as a father, brother, husband and friend. Although we know we will never see those baby blue eyes, we are comforted in knowing we only have to look to the blue sky and feel his presence.
We will have a celebration of Rick’s life 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Sandy Point Beach, Stockton Springs.
