EASTPORT – James “Jimmy” Mullen, 73, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family. James was born March 30, 1940, in St. Stephen, N.B., son of the late John and Josephine (Lawrence) Mullen.
James worked at the A&P in Eastport for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed going to fairs in Florida and Maine with his many friends. James was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Boston sports teams, but his greatest pleasure was watching the sporting events of his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, John Mullen Jr.; and a stepdaughter, Holly Horne of Tennessee. Surviving are his loving wife, Thelma (MacDonald) Mullen of Eastport; his children, Chris and Robert “Bobby” Mullen of Eastport, Jennifer Patterson and her husband, Robert, of Perry, Brian Mullen and his wife, Juanita, of Hermon, and Jonathan Mullen and his wife, Kristin, of Blue Hill; stepchildren, Joyce Fragale of Machias, Mark Hatt of Lincoln, Tommy Hatt of Nevada, Pamela Hatt of Lewiston, Sue Lank of New York, and Vicki Smith of Dennysville; brothers, Lawrence Mullen and his wife, Dina, of Sandford, and Edward Mullen and his wife, Gloria, of Eastport; sisters, Estella Miller of Virginia, and Mary Doherty of Westbrook; a half brother, John Mitchell and his wife, Annette, of South Carolina; many special grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, August 12, at Bayside Cemetery, Eastport.
