NEW CANADA, Maine — A Fort Kent man was hit with three charges Thursday evening after allegedly stealing a truck and drunkenly exposing himself to a woman in rural Aroostook County.

Chief Deputy Darrell Crandall of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department said Friday evening that the incident happened after deputies received a report of a 1999 Dodge truck having been stolen from a residence on the Fox Road in New Canada at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

As police were looking for the vehicle, they received a report that the driver had stopped in a driveway in St. John and allegedly exposed himself to a female, then left.

Less than 45 minutes later, deputies found the stolen truck parked in the driveway of another home on St. John Road in St. John Plantation, according to Crandall. Deputies arrested the driver of the truck, Troy Theriault, 30, of Fort Kent. He was charged with operating under the influence, indecent conduct and theft.

Theriault was taken to the Caribou Police Department where he later posted bail. If convicted of the felony theft offense Theriault faces up to five years in jail. There was no damage to the truck, and it has been returned to the owner.
