EAST MACHIAS – Keith Filmore Albee, 86, died Aug. 19, 2013 in East Machias. He was born Oct. 6, 1926 in East Machias, the son of the late Edgar and Marjorie (Foster) Albee.
He was a graduate of Washington Academy class of 1944. He loved hunting, shooting, and also trapping. He had a strong work ethic, and enjoyed his time working as a farmer in his blueberry fields. He also was a bus driver for many years for the East Machias and Washington Academy schools, and enjoyed plowing snow.
He is survived by his children, Sally Albee-Fitzsimmons and companion, Gary Gilpatrick, of Whiting, Kenny and wife, Sandra, of East Machias, Brian and wife, Maureen, of East Machias, Mark and companion, Karen Arkin, of Ellsworth, and Joel “Joey” and wife, Kay, of East Machias; grandchildren, Chad, Sandi, Amanda, Kenton, Keith, Kristy, Bryan, Katie, Josh, Edward, Jennifer, Sandra, Robert, Rachel, and Kevin; three sisters, Betty White and husband, David of Massachusetts, Jane Newman of Topsham and Nancy Albee of East Machias; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis M. (Spurling) Albee; three brothers, Lewis, Francis, and infant brother, Reginald; four sisters, June, Connie, Wanda, and Worraine, and a son-in-law, Charlie Fitzsimmons.
Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at McClure Funeral Home, corner of Charles and Drisko Street, Machias. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 at East Machias Congregational Church with Pastor Ralph Ackley officiating. Graveside memorial services will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Hadley Lake Cemetery.
