FARMINGTON, N.H. — A 24-year-old motorcyclist was airlifted to Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries Friday night after his vehicle collided with a silver SUV on Route 11.
Police officials stated that the motorcyclist, whom they did not identify, was not wearing a helmet.
Police also would not say where the severely injured rider was from.
Authorities reported that around 8 p.m., the motorcyclist was driving west on the 55 mph stretch of roadway, across from Cocheco Veterinary Hospital, when it collided with an SUV.
Police say the motorcyclist had a female passenger, and she was transported to a nearby hospital in noncritical condition.
The driver of the SUV was unharmed.
A Tactical Accident Reconstruction team is working on investigating what exactly occurred.
The road was closed for hours as police investigated, and it was not expected to reopen until sometime late Friday night.
Mutual aid assistance from New Durham and Milton helped redirect the flow of traffic away from the scene of the crash.
