SEDGWICK – Harry A. Jones, 85, died Sept. 6, 2013, at a Blue Hill hospital. He was born June 25, 1928, in Blue Hill, a son of Fred A. and Fannie A. (Atherton) Jones.
He attended schools in Blue Hill and joined the U.S. Army. He married Bessie Gray and they were married for 56 years and lived in Sedgwick for over 50 years. Harry worked at the Maine Maritime Academy and retired after 25 years of service.He enjoyed spending time with the family, especially going to his mother’s for Saturday night beans and biscuits. Also enjoyed going out to public suppers. He loved his vegetable gardens and raking blueberries.
Harry is survived by his wife, Bessie; sons, John and Andrew of Sedgwick; brother, Malcolm Jones of Bucksport and Florida; sisters, Nancy Hatch of Clifton, and Mary Ellen Hutchinson of Stonington; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Tammy Jones; brother, Lester Jones; sisters, Sylvia Black, and Priscilla Leighton.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Sedgwick, with Pastor Steven Sobel officiating. Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 141 South St., Blue Hill. Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com.
