BREWER – Thelma A. Goodness, 77, wife of Richard A. Goodness, died Sept. 12, 2013, in Bangor, and was an angel reclaimed by heaven. She was born Feb. 24, 1936, in Orrington, the daughter of the late Vaughn M. and Thelma A. (Chadwick) Rogers.
Thelma worked in nursing for many years, first for Eastern Maine Medical Center and later at Taylor Osteopathic Hospital, Bangor. She had worked for the Phillips-Strickland House, in Bangor for 34 years where she had been still currently been working. Thelma was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was an accomplished quilter. She was also an avid Red Sox fan and loved to go to games with her nephews.
Surviving are her husband of Brewer; five children, Bruce Goodness and Mary McDougal both of Brewer, Paul Goodness of Eddington, Carol Ross of Newburgh and Robert Goodness of Brewer; five grandchildren, Chris Goodness, Matt Ross and his wife, Kayla, Amy Ross Monique Goodness and Paul Leo Goodness; one great-granddaughter, Peyton Ross; two sisters, Phyllis Folsom and her husband, Elmer, of Cambridge and Mary Jane Barber and her husband, Jasper, of Goldsboro, N.C.; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three siblings, Kenneth and Arlene Rogers, Vaughn and Gladys Rogers Jr. and Elaine and Clyde Pelkey.
Family and friends may visit 5-7 p.m. Monday, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer, where a service honoring Thelma’s life will be held at 7 p.m. as the visitation concludes.
