BREWER — The Music Ministry of First Congregational Church of Brewer, UCC, includes two choirs — the Adult Voice Choir and the Paul Caron Memorial Handbell Choir. Members of both choirs have been described as kind-spirited, light-hearted and sometimes off-task.
The Adult Voice Choir has openings for singers of all voice ranges, especially tenors (female or male) and basses. The choir is composed of 10 singers with various musical experience and skill. The choir sings a cappella and accompanied by music in unison, as well as, two-, three- and four-part harmony.
The Paul Caron Memorial Handbell Choir has openings for three ringers. The bell choir
is also a volunteer choir and current ringers have various levels of experience from beginner to
skilled. The choir rings more than three octaves of bells.
Those who are curious about what it’s like to play handbells are invited to come to attend several rehearsals to find out what it’s like to pick up and ring.
The Adult Voice Choir sings most Sundays and the handbell choir rings at 9:30 a.m. once each month during the Sunday service from September through May.
Both choirs rehearse on Wednesdays; the bell choir practices 6:15-7 p.m. and the voice choir 7-8 p.m.
Accommodations are easily made for singers and ringers who aren’t available to commit to every Sunday.
