CALAIS – Norma Elizabeth Manship, 86, passed away peacefully Oct. 2, 2013, in Machias. Norma was born Jan. 10, 1927, to Norman and Julia (Coleman) Frost, in Calais, where she grew up and graduated from Calais High School, class of 1944.
After high school Norma furthered her education at St. Stephen Business School before beginning her career with Calais Federal Savings Bank where she worked for over 30 years, several of those years holding the position of Vice President. She married Philip L. Manship on June 14, 1948, and together they shared many wonderful years. Norma was a Communicant of Immaculate Conception Church where she actively participated with the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed traveling and was involved as a Calais Senior Citizen in her later years. Norma had an eye for antiques, not collecting volume but just the treasures. She will be sadly missed but remembered for her positive attitude and love of life.
Norma was predeceased by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Philip and Dolores Dodge of North Field; sisters-in-law, Joanne Manship of Hampstead, N.H., and Patricia Manship of Houston; seven cousins, Gary Lister, Paul Lister, Norma Sharpe, all of St. Stephen, NB, George Lister of Calgary, AB, Daniel Taylor, Mary Greenlaw, both of Calais and Judy Geel of Cutler; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Calais Avenue, Calais, with Father Rob Lupo officiating.
