ARUNDEL, Maine — Two people were hospitalized Tuesday after a head-on collision on Route 111, police said.

Amber Adams, 19, of Dayton, was turning from Hill Road onto Route 111 when a Jeep driven by Sandra Bicknell, 61, of Shapleigh nearly struck her minivan head-on, according to Chief Deputy William King of the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Bicknell was heading west while Adams was attempting to turn into the highway’s eastbound lanes, King said.

Bicknell was alone in her vehicle while Adams was carrying one passenger, Jonathan Coreau of Dayton.

The collision’s impact sent both vehicles across the road and into a ditch, King said.

Adams and Bicknell were treated at undisclosed hospitals, King said, while Coreau suffered minor abrasions to his legs but was not transported.
