BRADFORD – Linda C. Speed, 61, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at her residence. She was born Nov. 19, 1951, in Madawaska, the daughter of Gilbert and Elsie (Levesque) Cyr.
Linda grew up in Madawaska and graduated from Madawaska High School. Shortly after she met and married John Speed on Feb. 8, 1971, who was at the time working at the paper mill. After they were married they moved to Bradford. Linda throughout the years worked at Bradford General, Rogers Market, and SAD No. 64 as a custodian. She had a talent for doing crafts and enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, as well as going to craft shows. She also enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and cooking and it was a well-known fact that she was the only one to be in the kitchen when she was. Linda was a kind and generous person, and the center of her family whom she loved more than anything.
She leaves behind her loving husband, John W. Speed of Bradford; two sons, John R. Speed and his wife, Sandi, of Holden and their son, Nick, and Michael Speed of Bradford; a brother, Ronald Cyr; and four sisters, Lorraine Cyr, Nancy Bourgoin and her husband, Gaetan, all of Madawaska, Judy Tardif and her husband, Jean-Guy, of St. Agatha, and Sharon Cyr of Madawaska. She will also be sadly missed by three brothers-in-law, Daniel and Diane and family of Dover, Fred and Juliette and family, and Tim and Louise and family; a sister-in-law, Rebekah Randall and her husband, Jeff, and family, all of Bradford; as well as nieces, nephews, and many loving friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Daniel and Frances Speed.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Bradford Baptist with Pastor Donald Booker officiating. A private committal will follow after the service at Hillside Cemetery, Bradford. The family invites all to join them at the church fellowship hall for a time of refreshment and remembrance.
