OLD TOWN – Louise G. Moody died Friday, 11 October 2013, in Bangor. She was born 22 January 1919, the only child of Lemuel C. and Lena Gray Moody.
Louise graduated from the Walnut Hill School and received her BA in Art History from Radcliff College. During WWII she served in the USO at Camp Lompoc in California. After the war she returned to Old Town where she lived in her family home on North Fourth Street until moving to the Sylvia Ross Home in Bangor at age 91. Louise was an active member of many social and philanthropic organizations, including the PEO, the DAR, the Shakespeare Club, the Neeburban Club, and the Old Town Library League. Her interests centered on family, educational, cultural, and political matters. She was a woman of great charm and definite opinion.
Louise was predeceased by her parents and several cousins. She is survived by first cousins Elizabeth Gary of Pocasset, MA and Ruth Gray of Orono, along with many members of her cousins’ extended families. In her later years she was particularly close to relatives James Page of Old Town and Alexandra Weeks of Jacksonville, FL.
A private memorial service will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations in Louise’s memory may be made to the Old Town Public Library or to one’s favored charity.
