ETNA – Rickey Lee Downing, 60, died unexpectedly Oct. 15, 2013, at his home in Etna. He was born Feb. 15, 1953, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Robert L. and Joan M. (Malone) Downing.
Rickey worked as an excavator and heavy equipment operator for Alan Dorr Construction for 30 years. He was an avid biker, was a member of the Ali’i and the Saracen Motorcycle Clubs and loved the time spent riding his Harley. Rickey lived simply, had an infectious laugh, a signature beard and enjoyed hanging out in the garage with friends. He was a member of the Anah Temple Shrine.
Surviving are two daughters, Amy Magda and her husband, Rob, of Topsham, and Kerri Downing and her partner, Josh, of Grass Valley, Calif.; a stepson, whom he considered a son, Anthony White and his wife, Sharon, of Hermon; seven grandchildren, Noah, Lillian, and Maeve Magda, Samuel Downing, Anthony White Jr., Mackenzie White and Lacey Wiles; and one brother, Robert L. Downing Jr. and his wife, Margie, of Etna. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Rod Downing; and one nephew, Lance Downing.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Etna Cemetery, Shadow Lane, Etna. A time of continued celebration will be immediately afterward at Bob and Margie’s home.
