HODGDON – Elwood E. Scott Sr., 91, died Oct. 18, 2013, at a Caribou VA facility. He was born April 1, 1922, at Hodgdon, the son of Steven and Elva (Andrews) Scott.
Elwood served as a Corpal in the U.S. Army during World War II in Normandy, France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was employed with the Town of Houlton Public Works Dept., until he retired. After retiring he liked to visit and socialize at the Town Garage and Guy Harringtons where he liked to pump gas for the customers.
Elwood is survived by his wife, Ines (Fredericks) Scott of Hodgdon; three sons, Elwood Jr. and wife, Diane, of Hodgdon, Wayne of Linneus, and James and wife, Nancy, of Connecticut; two daughters, Joyce Brewer and husband, Ralph, of Houlton, and Noreen Wood and husband, Stanley, of Debec, NB; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Wendell, Harold, and Stephen Jr.; and a special nephew, Steven Scott.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, at Dunn Funeral Home. Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Hodgdon Cemetery. Friends may make gifts in Elwood’s memory to Houlton Animal Shelter, care of Dunn Funeral Home, 11 Park St., Houlton ME 04730.
