NORTHEAST HARBOR – Constance M. Seavey passed away Oct. 24, 2013. Connie was born April 26, 1923, in Northeast Harbor, to Herbert Edes Kenney and Emily Philips (Kenney) Reynolds.
Connie attended Northeast Harbor Elementary School (Stetson) and graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon School, Northfield, Mass. She also attended Palm Beach J.R. College, Palm Beach, Fla., and Maine School of Commerce (Husson), Bangor.
Connie was married for 25 years to Robert F. Damon and later for 10 years to Donald R. Seavey.
Connie and Bob resided in several communities due to his fishing career, namely Rockland, Tenant’s Harbor and Portland. Connie was proud to be a descendant of the Savage and Manchester families, early settlers of Northeast Harbor.
Her interests were reading, traveling, music, especially jazz piano – Bill Evans, and genealogy. Connie was a direct descendent, 11th generation, of Henry Sampson, a Mayflower passenger. She was a lifelong member of The Union Church of N.E. Harbor and a member of the MDI Historical Society.
Connie was predeceased by her parents; her husbands; her sister, Mildred Gilley; her beloved son, Herbert L. Damon; grandson, Peter Lukens; and cousins, aunts and uncles.
Connie is survived by two sons, Bruce E. Damon of Northeast Harbor, and Michael E. Damon of Manset; and two daughters, Carol Harkins-Damon, and Laura D. Cross, both of Northeast Harbor. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Deborah Damon of Owls Head; her brother, Donald H. Kenney of Kennebunk; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, cousins, and their children.
A spring celebration of Connie’s life will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery, Northeast Harbor.
