ORONO – Mona Rae Turner, 78, passed away Nov. 7, 2013, after a very short and courageous battle with cancer. Her adoring family surrounded her in the peaceful privacy of her home.
Mona is survived by her still madly in love husband of 57 years, John F. Turner; her son, Peter Turner; daughter, Kim Costain and son-in-law, Will; granddaughter, Erica Snow and her husband, Jeffrey; grandson, Jonathan Brothers; stepgrandsons, Garrett and Tanner Costain; and her newest reasons to smile each day, her great-grandchildren, Paxon and Presley Snow, and Carson Brothers. She’s also survived by her loving family in Connecticut; nephew, Thomas “Tonchy” Turner his wife, Debra, and their children, “little” Tonchy and Shane.
Mona was a tiny woman with a heart too big for words. She was fierce and full of life, a person became more whole by simply meeting her! The world has lost an exquisite soul but those who knew and loved her have truly gained an angel. May our sweet “Nana” rest easy and laugh while watching over us all. You will be forever missed, always loved, and never forgotten.
With respect to Mona’s wishes there will be no services, just well wishes for the healing of her family and the future of her great-grandchildren. Any donations may be made in Mona’s honor to Cancer Care of Maine.
