BROOKSVILLE – Lois Lucille Fowler, 83, passed away Nov. 8, 2013. She was born Aug. 27, 1930, in Deer Isle, to Edward and Gladys Damon Bowden. She was the third oldest in the family of six daughters.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Edward of 67 years; daughter, Bonnie Ellen Miller of Defuniak Springs, Fla.; and sisters, Barbara LaFontaine of Greene, Gladys Blodgett and husband, Dwight, of Brewer, Norma Barrett and husband, Charles, of Turner, and Judy Garland and husband, James, of Gorham. She’s also survived by her oldest grandson, Mark Tracy Fowler and wife, Rachael; great-grandson, Thomas Wayne of Sedgwick; grandson, Jeremy Roy Fowler; great-granddaughter, Sage Louise Fowler of Brooksville; granddaughter, Lois Louise Fowler Beaupain and husband, Jeremy; great-granddaughter, Nora Ann; great-grandson, Charles Thomas of Berwick; and daughter-in-law, Margaret Fowler of Brooksville. She was predeceased by her son, Thomas Charles in 2003.
Lois attended schools in Penobscot and Brooksville. On Aug. 31, 1946, she married Roy Edward Fowler. Lois always worked in the community, cooking for bake sales and sewing for craft fairs in her church. She and Roy owned and operated a small store near her home in Brooksville. Later after her children were grown she worked at Britts Department Store in Ellsworth. After the store closing she went to work at the Union Trust Bank in Ellsworth until she retired in 1995. She was beautiful knitter and made afghans, sweaters, hats and scarves. She always made her beautiful double mittens for the Union Trust Mitten Tree at Christmas. After her retirement she and Roy owned and operated a small gift shop at their home on Bagaduce Road. Lois loved her family very much and enjoyed her three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren showering them with holiday gifts for every special occasion.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the West Brooksville Congregational Church. Lois asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Cancer Care of Maine in Brewer; or to the memorial fund at the West Brooksville Congregational Church.
