JONESPORT – Maureen Sharon (Crowley) Blyther, 71, passed away Nov. 17, 2013, in Bangor. She was born Oct. 4, 1942, to Myron Leland Crowley and Elva Kneeland Beal.
Maureen worked as an ambulance driver, security guard, homemaker, and fostered 13 plus children with her husband, James Blyther Sr. She adored her grandchildren and also had an urge to move quite frequently. She loved puzzles and card games, especially playing Skip Bo with her mother. She loved her dogs, Misty, Dusty, and Kie, and spent long hours reading books. She was also a member of the Jonesport Wesleyan Church.
Maureen is survived by her husband, James Blyther Sr.; her son, James Blyther Jr.; her daughters, Norma Beal and husband, Dean, of Beals, Teresa Bryant and husband, Dwayne, of Lexington, S.C., and Lisa Quigley and husband, Peter, of Lexington, S.C.; brother, Oscar Crowley and wife, Judy, of Jonesport; sisters, Karen Carver and husband, Ted, of Lisbon Falls, and Ardene Heistand and husband, Robert, of Eddington; sister-in-law, Jane Crowley; grandchildren, Misty Roland and husband, Kevin, Cindi Moore and husband, Kris, Tamie White and husband, Mitchell, Stephen Bean, Myron Torrey, Michael Blyther, Matthew Blyther, Kannon Risley, and Jessica Merchant and husband, Mason; and great-grandchildren, Madison, Kinley, Jenna, Caleb, Musette, Mitch, Silas, Dakota, Ivy Sue, Celine, Gabriel, Chloe, Cheyenna, Cali, and Carson; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and her great-grandchild, Bryce Blyther.
The ceremony will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Jonesport Wesleyan Church with Pastor Rich. Visitation with the family will be held 11 a.m. – noon at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family at P.O. Box 28, Jonesport, ME 04649. Services provided by Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Homes, Machias.
