STEUBEN – Rebecca “Becky” Jane (Alexander) Carr, 78, passed away Nov. 15, 2013, in Ellsworth. She was born June 12, 1935, in Bangor, to Joseph Alexander and Roberta Taylor.
Becky retired from the University of Maine as a laboratory technician in the Food Science Department. Also, she worked for a number of years in the Soils Lab at Maine DOT. She enjoyed her retirement years sitting on the deck with her dog, Cammie, watching the sunset over the bay.
Becky is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, William L. Carr; and her siblings, Jan and Sandy Alexander of Blue Hill, Jackie Valliere of Fall River, Mass., Jill Young of Hancock, Joy Emerson of Ellsworth, Jeanne Poirier of Wiscasset, Jerianne Archer of Mariaville, Jon Alexander of Grand Rapids, Mich., Judy Nelson of Hancock, Beth and Frank Carr of Bangor, Bobbi and David Curtis of Sun City Center, Fla., and Bruce and Linda Leighton of Orrington; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her stepmother, Phyllis Alexander; and her brother, Stephen W. Leighton.
The ceremony will be held 1 p.m. Nov. 22, at Bragdon Kelley Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge. Visiting hours are noon-1 p.m. Friends and family are invited to a reception following the service at Narraguagus Bay Healthcare Facility for refreshments.
