SAINT ALBANS – Phyllis Mary (Knowles) Chambers, 85, died Nov. 19, 2013, at a Dexter health care facility. She was born June 24, 1928, in Dover, N.H., a daughter of Crosby and Leona (Deag) Knowles.
After graduating from high school she met and married Kenneth E. Chambers. In addition to being a very family oriented mother and wife she was the bookkeeper for Chambers Farms in St. Albans and Corinna. She was a member of the Farm Bureau and past member of the Corinna Grange. Phyllis will be remembered as a talented craftsperson, and will especially be remembered for her art and gardens.
In addition to her husband of St. Albans, she is survived by two sons, Kenneth M. and wife, Brenda, of Pennsylvania, and Frederick and wife, Terry, of Corinna; two daughters, Karen and husband, Hal Hutchins, and Deborah and husband, Tim Bagley, both of St. Albans; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two very special nieces, Mary (Day) Willey and Jane (Day) Huggins. We wish to extend a special thank you to Jane and Mary for being there for mom and us all. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Phyllis was predeceased by two children, Judith Ann and Jeffery Chambers; a sister, Patricia Day, who was her very close friend as well; and two brothers, Norman and Arthur Knowles.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. Burial will be at Corinna Village Cemetery.
