READFIELD, Maine — A search for a lost hunter has concluded with the man’s safe return, officials said.

George Turner, 45, of Readfield was found by game wardens at 7:45 a.m. Friday, according to Cpl. John MacDonald of the Maine Warden Service.

Turner was reported missing Thursday night when he did not return home after a day of hunting, MacDonald said.

Ground units and canines participated in the search and an aircraft was used once daylight broke on Friday, MacDonald said. Cives Welding employees also assisted game wardens with the search.

Turner, who is an employee at the Augusta business, was not hurt.
