EAST MACHIAS – Clifford “Kip” George Robinson, 80, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. Clifford was born Jan. 20, 1933, in Calais, and attended Calais Academy.
Kip enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon returning home, he worked for Dead River Co., until beginning his career in plumbing and heating, retiring from the Cutler Communications Center in 1993. Upon retirement, Kip and his wife Barbara moved to Ocala, Fla., where they lived until 2007 when they moved back to Machias to be close to family. Clifford was a member of Sherman Bros. Post No. 3 American Legion in Calais and enjoyed golfing, playing bingo, dancing with his beloved wife, and playing the guitar and piano. Kip loved horses and enjoyed attending horse shows.
Clifford was predeceased by his parents, Adolphus and Winifred (Kelley) Lentz Jr.; a son, Thomas Robinson; and a sister, Pauline Chase. Surviving are his loving wife, Barbara (Noddin) Robinson of Machias; his daughter, Brenda Ramsdell and husband, Randy, of East Machias; two grandchildren, Kellie Kilton and husband, Adam, of Roque Bluffs, and Shana Ramsdell of Machiasport; two great-grandchildren, Kisten and Baylee Rae Kilton; a special nephew, Dominic Frost of Waterville; and his faithful canine companion, Ellie.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Jacksonville Cemetery, East Machias. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais and Eastport. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.maysfuneralhome.com.
