JACKMAN – Ruth Ellen Comber Torrey died peacefully Dec. 1, 2013, surrounded by her family after a long illness. She was born Aug. 6, 1955, in Jackman, the daughter of Edward R. and Pauline C. Comber.
Ruth graduated from Forest Hills High School in 1973, the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelor of Science Degree in special education, and a Masters Degree in teaching from the University of Maine in Orono.
Surviving besides her parents of Venice, Fla., are two brothers, Randall E. Comber and his wife, Lucy, of Pittsfield, and Todd A Comber of Florida; two nephews, Aaron R. Comber and his wife, Brooke, and their sons, Jack and Eddie of Granby, Conn., and Jonathan A. Comber and his wife, Lindsey, of Dover Foxcroft; aunt, Ellen M. Merrill of Skowhegan; and several cousins.
At Ruth’s request there will be no visitation or funeral. Private burial for the family will be held in the spring in New Gloucester. Donations may be made to the Forest Hills High School, Jackman, in Ruth’s memory. Arrangements by Greenlawn Funeral Directors, Bangor.
