BRISTOL, Conn. – Wilfred H. Emond, also known as Earl W. Emond, 90, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, in Torrington, Conn. Born on April 28, 1923, in Frenchville, he was the son of the late Willie and Edith (Gervais) Emond. He was predeceased by his wife, Florida (LeCour) Emond.
He was a Marine from 1942-1945. Following the service, he worked for Pratt and Whitney until he retired after 45 years of service. To those who knew him, he was a quiet man who made friends very easily wherever he went and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He leaves a daughter, Carol Bayne and her husband, James, of Barkhamsted, Conn.; a grandson, Shane LaFontaine of Bristol, Conn.; a sister, Germaine O’Brien and her husband, Jim, of Exeter, N.H.; and his eight nieces and five nephews. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by five brothers.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Madawaska. Family and friends are welcome to gather on Friday before the service 8:30-9:45 a.m. at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114-10th Ave., Madawaska. Burial will be held at a later date.
