SPRING HILL, Tenn. – Mr. Anthony Joseph Newell, age 67, passed away early Tuesday morning, Dec. 3, 2013, at his residence.
Anthony was born Oct. 5, 1946, in Waterville. Loving him as their own, he would come to know the late Eugene Piper and Mildred Smith Piper as his parents. He served his country in Vietnam in the U.S. Air Force. In 1974 he married Betty Franklin and together they celebrated 39 years of marriage, with their final anniversary meal together just days before his passing. Anthony had such a passion for country western music, he relocated to the Nashville area just to be “near the music.” He enjoyed the sounds of music and comedy filling his home. He will be best remembered as a family man. Although he enjoyed golfing, and even riding in the golf cart after his health took him off the course, he was most comfortable at home with his family. Together, they shared laughter and time together.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Betty Franklin Newell of Spring Hill, Tenn.; three daughters, Tonya Kirby of Little Rock, Ark., Amanda Heard of Riverview, Fla., and Cortney Newell of Spring Hill, Tenn.; a sister, Charlotte Glover of Princeton; nephew, Darrell Newell of Princeton; and grandchildren, Blake Heard, Sean Kirby, and Madison Kepner.
His family will honor his life with a private gathering at their residence. The U.S. Air Force will provide military honors at the gathering. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. You may share condolences with the family at the Heritage Funeral Home website www.TnFunerals.com.
