OLD TOWN – Bernice M. Coffin, 96, died peacefully Dec. 7, 2013, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Oct. 21, 1917, in Old Town, a daughter of Cyril and Clara (Pelletier) Paradis.
Bernice was employed in area shoe shops until her retirement. She was a 38 year member and past president of the Elks Emblem Club, member and trustee of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, member of Holy Family Parish, Widow to Widower program, and the Old Town Senior Citizens. She also volunteered with R.S.V.P. and participated in the Senior Bowling League.
She is survived by a son, Richard Coffin and his wife, Claudette, of Eddington; a sister, Delores O’Keefe of Old Town; and stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur in 1990; two brothers, Buster and Virgil Paradis; and an infant brother, Richard.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, at Parish of the resurrection, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Immediately following the service, all are invited to the Parish Hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship. Spring Interment will be at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town. Memorial contributions may be made to a veteran’s organization of one’s choice.
