MILLINOCKET AND MEDWAY – Goering J. “Sonny” Falone, 71, died peacefully surrounded by his family Dec. 12, 2013, at a Bangor hospital after a three year courageous battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 17, 1942, in Millinocket, the son of Tarquinio and Antoinette (Moscone) Falone.
Sonny graduated from Stearns High School in 1960. After high school he went to Boston working as an apprentice mason, returning to Millinocket he attended the Police Academy in Augusta and worked for the Millinocket Police Department for two years. The next 35 years Sonny’s career was with the Great Northern Paper Co., with the majority of that time as a steam plant engineer retiring in 2003.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Michelle of Medway; two sons, Todd and his wife, Meaghan, of Carmel and Jason and his wife, Kelly, of Lyman; four daughters, Annette Falone and her fiancé, Thomas Goody, of Argyle, Debbie Tall of Old Town, Kimberly Kenniston and her husband, Terry, of Hampden, and Rachel Bosch and her husband, Calvyn, of California; one brother, Kenneth Falone of Virgnia; three sisters, Olga Huddleston, Cheryl Brunette both of Millinocket, and Linda Doyle of Bangor; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, 11 a.m. at St Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Millinocket. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Millinocket cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O. Box 374, Millinocket, ME 04462. Arrangements by Greenlawn Funeral Directors, Bangor.
