SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — A local auction company is overseeing the sale of equipment that was used at the Maine Jump, a Bangor-based children’s entertainment business that has closed.
Keenan Auction out of South Portland is auctioning off a number of bounce houses and other equipment used at the Hogan Road facility, according to project manager Steve Keenan. The auction company’s website said the Maine Jump had recently closed.
Approximately 34 pieces of equipment are being auctioned off, according to Keenan. Bidding opened on Monday and will close on Jan. 6. All bidding will occur online at www.keenanauction.com.
Maine Jump owner Ryan Hatch said in an interview with the BDN in October that the Bangor business would close on Nov. 1 due to poor attendance and management decisions.
Hatch didn’t immediately return a phone message seeking comment Tuesday afternoon.
The Maine Jump featured slides, climbing walls, obstacle courses and other amusements designed for children ages 12 and under. In addition to the Hogan Road location, there is also a Presque Isle establishment which Keenan said is still open.
The Maine Jump’s closure in Bangor occurred after the business added $200,000 in new equipment and security upgrades over the summer.
Hatch bought the business in September 2011 after it was closed by the previous owners.
