BANGOR – Francis “Pat” LaBree Sr., 94, died Feb. 1, 2014, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born Jan. 6, 1920, in Milford, the son of Nelson and Philomene (Trembley) LaBree.
Pat, as he was known by many, was a graduate of Old Town High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Pat was a bush pilot, a member of the Civil Air Patrol, and enjoyed flying his own airplanes. He owned and operated LaBree’s Radio & TV Sales & Service in Milford. He was an avid snowmobiler and was the co-founder of the Pine tree Snowmobile Club. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 3381 Old Town, the Knights of Columbus Council 2537, Old Town and the 4th Degree Assembly and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor. Pat volunteered for hospice and for the former Widowed Person Services.
Surviving are two grandchildren, Shawn LaBree of Old Town, and Jessica Aldrich and her husband, Jeremy, of Argyle; two great-grandchildren, Myranda LaBree of Jacksonville, Fla., and his great-grandson, Ian Aldrich of Argyle; three sisters, Marie O’Keefe of Milford, Corinne Caswell of West Old Town, and Theresa Pollard of Brooklin; one brother, Robert LaBree of West Old Town; and nieces and nephews including, Georgianna Ellis of Bangor with whom he remained close. Pat was predeceased by three wives, Eleanor (O’Leary), Mary (Hachey) and Barbara (Kent); a son, Francis A. LaBree Jr.; three siblings, Walter LaBree, Margaret Salsbury, and Rose Wallinchus.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ohio Street, Bangor. Family and friends may visit 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, prior to beginning of Mass. Burial with military honors will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Old Town, in the spring.
