DUNEDIN, Fla. — Boston righthander Clay Buchholz blanked the Toronto Blue Jays for four innings en route to a 3-1 victory for the Red Sox on Friday in a spring training game at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium.

It was another strong spring outing for Buchholz as he allowed just two hits and struck out three. He has given up just one run, five hits and two walks in eight innings so far this spring. He has struck out five.

Toronto righthander Drew Hutchison also turned in a strong outing as he allowed one run on four hits while striking out seven in 4 ⅔ innings.

The Red Sox reached Hutchison for a run in the fifth when Jonny Gomes hit a leadoff single and scored on Corey Brown’s double. Boston added two more runs in the eighth, highlighted by Sean Coyle’s RBI double.

Kevin Pillar hit an RBI double for the Blue Jays in the bottom of the eighth.

The Red Sox will host the Philadelphia Phillies at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Fla., at 7:05 p.m . Saturday. It will be Lester’s second spring training start.

SOX NOTES: Red Sox right fielder Shane Victorino didn’t play on Friday as a precaution dealing with his right thumb. He had surgery on the thumb in December. He’s expected to play in Saturday’s game. … Center fielder Grady Sizemore is OK after he fouled a pitch off his knee during a minor league game on Thursday. Manager John Farrell said Sizemore won’t miss any playing time.
