VASSALBORO, Maine — Thirteen state troopers earned their badges Friday upon graduating from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro.

Gov. Paul LePage was in attendance as Col. Robert Williams swore the new troopers in, spokesman Stephen McCausland said.

The new officers, who have spent the last nine weeks in specialized state police instruction, will start patroling with a veteran trooper.

“You will see the best and worst of people and called upon to make decisions in a fraction of a second. The public expects nothing less.” Williams told the graduates.

The new troopers and their assignments are: Adam Bell of Sanford, John Darcy of Connecticut and Ethan Doody of Wade will patrol Aroostook County; Taylor Dube of Bangor and Andrew Peirson of Old Town have been assigned to Troop E in Bangor; Randy Hall of Carthage, George Neagle of Vassalboro and Michael Pion of Vassalboro will be based out of Troop C in Skowhegan; Sarah Ferland of Winterport, Nicholas Gleeson of Belfast and James Moore of Pittson will patrol in Troop D, based in Augusta; and Brian Hink of Porter and Shane Sullivan of Auburn will work out of Troop B in Gray.
