GREENVILLE, Maine — A Greenville man who had been missing since June 3 was found dead in Massachusetts on Wednesday, police said.

The body of Elmer MacFayden, 88, was found in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, about 40 yards off a highway, according to a statement from Greenville police.

MacFayden was reported missing on Tuesday when he started a drive to New York state and hadn’t been heard from. He had last been seen in Scarborough.

“The Greenville Police Department appreciates the assistance of the Piscataquis County dispatchers, Worcester, Massachusetts PD and the Massachusetts State Police for their assistance in bringing closure,” the statement said.
