AUGUSTA, Maine — A Gardiner woman died Tuesday from injuries she suffered in a motorcycle crash in Augusta earlier this month, police said.

Karen O’Donnell, 53, was traveling with a group of motorcyclists on Western Avenue when she hit a pothole, according to Augusta police Lt. Chris Read.

The accident occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. July 6.

Read said the pothole was roughly six inches deep, two feet long and eight to 10 inches wide. The lieutenant added that area of the city is undergoing a lot of construction this summer.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and O’Donnell was the lone occupant of her bike, Read said. She was wearing a helmet.
