AUGUSTA, Maine — A York County man serving a three-year, 182-day sentence for operating under the influence has died, according to officials.

Charles Edmond Fulcher, 65, who was on the supervised community confinement program from the Maine Correctional Center in Windham, died on Wednesday, according to Scott Fish, Director of Special Projects for the Maine Department of Corrections.

Fish said the program Fulcher was on allowed him to serve his sentence in the community under supervision of the prison while not having to stay at the prison.

Fish said it’s unclear who Fulcher was staying with or where he was living.

State police, the Maine Attorney General’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s office were notified of Fulcher’s death, under standard procedure.

Fulcher had served 2 years of his sentence at the time of his death.
