ROQUE BLUFFS, Maine — Four people have been arrested on drug charges as the result of a joint investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, Washington County Sheriff Donnie Smith and MDEA Cmdr. Peter Arno said in a news release.
Dawn Crocker, 31 of Roque Bluffs; Gordon Flynn of Roque Bluffs; Ralph Green, 36, of New Rochelle, New York; and Jamal Webb, 36, of Brooklyn, New York, were arrested.
Crocker was charged with Class B felony heroin trafficking, and Flynn was charged with Class C felony hydrocodone possession.
Green and Webb each were charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking in cocaine base and oxycodone. Those charges were elevated to Class A felony status because of the amount of drugs in their possession.
The four were allegedly a significant source of illicit drugs into Washington County, and the arrests disrupted their trafficking operation, the officials said.
The series of events that led to the arrests began on Wednesday, when Washington County sheriff’s deputies and MDEA investigators executed a search warrant at Crocker’s home on Roque Bluffs Road. Police obtained the search warrant after receiving information suggesting Crocker was involved in the distribution of heroin and prescription drugs.
About 3 grams of heroin and several oxycodone pills, which Crocker allegedly had on her person, were seized during the search. Flynn was with Crocker during the raid, and he was allegedly found in possession of a small amount of hydrocodone, a prescription painkiller.
Investigators were able to determine the identities of the individuals believed to be supplying Crocker and others with the prescription drugs being sold illicitly in Roque Bluffs and other parts of Washington County, Smith and Arno said.
Investigators also learned that the people responsible were in the process of transporting the drugs back to Washington County from outside of Maine and were due in Washington County late Wednesday night, Smith and Arno said.
About 10 p.m. Wednesday, MDEA agents located the vehicle suspected of carrying the drugs back to Washington County on Interstate 95 in the Bangor area. The vehicle was eventually stopped on Route 1A in Holden after it pulled into a local gas station, Arno and Smith said..
Before the stop, MDEA agents had obtained a search warrant for the vehicle. In the search that followed, agents allegedly found 308 oxycodone tablets and more than 40 grams of crack cocaine hidden in the vehicle’s engine compartment.
The vehicle was driven by Green, and Webb was a passenger. Both men were arrested and taken to Penobscot County Jail.
Smith and Arno said the arrests are the result of significant inter-agency cooperation among several law enforcement agencies, including the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Maine State Police, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Holden Police Department and the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation is continuing and more arrests are likely, authorities said.
