Rutgers rewards Flood with extension
Rutgers football coach Kyle Flood received a salary increase and contract extension through 2019.
Flood, 17-11 since replacing Greg Schiano as head coach, and the Scarlet Knights opened the season 2-0 and host Penn State this week, the Big Ten Conference opener for the former Big East program.
Flood was lauded in New Jersey this week for his strong stance on domestic violence in the wake of former Rutgers running back Ray Rice’s indefinite suspension from the NFL.
“Coach Flood exemplifies our university’s standards and values both on and off the field,” Rutgers University President Robert Barchi said. “He has put together a strong coaching staff that supports our mission to compete well both in the classroom and on the field.”
In addition to a top-10 APR ranking, Flood led Rutgers to two straight bowl appearances and was the 2012 Big East Coach of The Year in his first season as head coach, when Rutgers shared the Big East title.
