PORTLAND, Maine — A New Jersey man pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of firearms during a hearing on Friday in U.S. District Court, U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II said in a news release.
Court records show that during a probation home check at a Moose River residence on July 12 of last year, probation officers discovered seven firearms, including four handguns, in the bedroom of Kevin Anderson, 46, of Mullica Township, New Jersey.
Anderson was prohibited from possessing handguns because of three prior felony convictions, Delahanty said.
Anderson faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He will be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office.
The investigation that led to the guilty plea was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Maine Probation and Parole Office, U.S. Border Patrol, the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine Warden Service.
