Christian College Fair
BANGOR — Bangor Christian Schools will hosting its annual college fair 6:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the school.The event is open to the public. Representatives from
Crandall University, Cairn University, Cedarville University, Eastern Nazarene College, Grace Evangelical College, Husson University, Liberty University, Patrick Henry College, Pensacola Christian College and Taylor University will attend the event.
Finance Authority of Maine will give a presentation on the financial aid process for college admission at 7 p.m.
Adult education
HAMPDEN — RSU 22 Adult Education Program offers a roster of courses that includes vocational training, technology, health-fitness-wellness, general enrichment, arts and crafts, motor coach trips and community programs. Those who like to cook can opt for Latin Caribbean Cooking, Living Gluten Free, Baking Delicious Scones, Mommy-Daddy and Me: Let’s Make Pizza Together.

Colgate University
BANGOR — Rebecca McKay of Bangor was awarded the Dean’s Award for academic excellence for the spring semester at Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y.
UMA Bangor
BANGOR — The University of Maine at Augusta recently announced that Dr. Pamela Proulx-Curry is the new dean at UMA Bangor.
She comes to UMA from her previous employment as academic dean at Eastern Maine Community College. Proulx-Curry also served as a faculty member at the University of Maine at Machias and Unity College. She also served as executive director at the Wisconsin Campus Compact.
She earned a doctoral degree in analytical chemistry at the University of New Hampshire, and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the University of Maine.
Public Affairs Scholarships
ORONO — The Margaret Chase Smith Public Affairs Scholarships for 2014-2015 have been awarded to two University of Maine undergraduates pursuing independent research.
Joshua Paredes, a marketing major from Bangor, will study the effectiveness of public health marketing strategies for hazing prevention. He’ll work with the National Collaborative for Hazing Research and Prevention.
Jesse Clark, a political science major from Calais, will use computer modeling to explore the impact of gerrymandering for his project, “Determining an Expected House Majority Using Pattern Analysis.” He’ll work with UMaine political science and spatial information science and engineering researchers.
The scholarships are awarded annually for independent undergraduate research on a topic of public policy relevance. Students in all majors are eligible. For information go to
