NORTH WATERBORO, Maine — A Waterboro woman is facing a drug charge after an investigation into methamphetamine manufacturing led to her arrest on Tuesday, officials said.
Caitlin Bigelow, 26, was taken into custody without incident at her residence and charged with trafficking in Schedule W drugs, a Class B felony, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency commander Scott Pelletier said.
In early June, York County sheriff’s deputies had attempted to serve Bigelow with civil paperwork at a Newfield mobile home she had been renting, according to Pelletier.
Despite the fact she was not home, several items commonly used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine, including gas generators made from soda bottles with rubber tubing affixed to the bottle openings, empty pseudoephedrine blister packs and granular cold packs, were found outside the home.
A safety perimeter was set up, and the following day, a search warrant was executed by the MDEA, who were assisted by the Newfield Fire Department and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, Pelletier said. Agents were able to dismantle 10 “one pot” laboratories, while retaining samples for criminal prosecution.
Interviews were conducted over the past several months, and based on evidence, an arrest warrant for Bigelow was obtained, and she was taken into custody Tuesday.
Bigelow is being held at the York County Jail on $5,000 bail, Pelletier said. The investigation is ongoing.
