ROCKLAND, Maine — The city has scheduled a series of “public listening sessions” to discuss current and future cultural development in Rockland.
The meetings begin Wednesday.
Rockland Community Development Director John Holden said in a news release that the city is looking for people to help Rockland identify what is important to them, what aspects of the arts and other creative endeavors they would like to see grow or change, and where they believe there are impediments to enjoying a robust cultural experience here in the city.
“’Crazy ideas are welcome,” Holden said. “They encourage conversation and trigger ideas from others.”
He said the city is looking for broad participation in these sessions, with input from people of all ages and from all walks of life.
Light refreshments will be served.
The meetings are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the Sail Power and Steam Museum on Mechanic Street; 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, in the cafeteria at Oceanside East High School; and 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Lincoln Street Center.
The project is funded in part by a $15,000 grant for civic engagement from the Emmanuel & Pauline Lerner Foundation.
