OAKFIELD, Maine — A 34-year-old man was arrested Saturday after the truck he was driving struck a River Road home and caused the garage to detach, Maine State Police said Sunday.

Christopher Crowe of Oakfield was charged with aggravated criminal mischief, Sgt. Josh Haines said in a press release.

Crowe was driving a 2002 Western Trailer Truck, owned by Sides Logging of Sherman, westbound on River Road when he lost control of the vehicle on a curve, according to Haines. The truck left the road and struck a utility pole, which cut the pole in half, and it continued through a private lawn before crashing into a home causing “significant damage,” he said.

The impact of the truck hitting the house caused the garage to detach from the residence, the sergeant said.

Susan Faloon, spokeswoman for Emera Maine, said the crash caused more than 2800 Emera Maine customers in Oakfield to lose power, and it impacted a transmission line serving customers south of Houlton.

Haines noted that the crash is still under investigation and additional charges are pending.
