BROWNVILLE, Maine — Police are looking for information about the removal Wednesday of several political campaign signs.
Police Chief Nicholas Clukey received a complaint about the missing signs from town office staff, who reported they saw the occupants of a silver Honda Ridgeline pickup remove a sign for Piscataquis County sheriff candidate Dennis Dyer.
Another Dyer campaign sign was reported missing near the Maine Forest Service station on Davis Street, the Police Department said in a news release Wednesday.
Brownville police said removal of political signs by unauthorized persons is a civil offense under Maine law. Anyone with information about the removal of political signs for any candidate or referendum question in Brownille is asked to call the Brownville Police Department at 965-2561.
