BANGOR, Maine — A Corinna man has been charged in U.S. District Court in connection with a pharmacy robbery in Guilford more than 2½ years ago.

Michael Thompson, 26, was arrested Friday and charged with one count of pharmacy robbery. The complaint, filed in August in federal court, was sealed until Tuesday.

The circumstances surrounding his arrest are not included in court documents. The complaint said that Thompson confessed to the robbery in July 2014 after he was arrested following a high-speed chase that ended when he flipped a stolen truck in Ripley.

Information about charges in that case, which involves prosecutors in Piscataquis, Penobscot and Somerset counties, was not available late Tuesday.

Thompson is scheduled to make his first appearance before a federal judge Wednesday.

He allegedly stole Vicodin, hydromorphine, methadone, morphine and oxycodone valued at more than $500 at knifepoint on March 10, 2012, from the Guilford pharmacy, the complaint said. Thompson then allegedly fled in a U.S. Postal Service truck because a customer who realized the store was being robbed moved Thompson’s pickup truck, which had been left running.

If convicted, Thompson faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000 on the pharmacy robbery charge.
