ORONO — Registration is underway for the University of Maine Junior Winter Clinic, which will be held 4:30-6:30 p.m. on 12 consecutive Saturdays; and its Senior Winter Clinic, which will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. on 12 consecutive Saturdays. Cost is $250 for instruction with UMaine players and coaches.The goal of this clinic is to give each player a high level of individual instruction within a group setting. The Youth Aged Winter Tournament registration has opened up to fill 6-8 available spots.The schedule has been modified to have a nine-week, 10-game schedule played on Sundays. BANGOR — Husson University will hold 15, one-day basketball clinics throughout the school year for boys and girls in grades 3-8. The clinics will focus on skill development such as ballhandling, footwork, shooting, passing, along with other basic skills and concepts. BANGOR — The Bangor Parks and Recreation Department is offering eight weeks of Youth Basketball for children in grades 2-3 and 4-5 with separate boys and girls leagues. BANGOR — The Maine Athletic Club’s Mark LeClerc and retired Maine high school basketball coach Bob Cimbollek are offering a basketball consulting service for players, teams and coaches.The service will offer individual lessons to players on offensive skills and basketball shooting day camps. ORONO — The Maine Junior Black Bears will host a TD Bank Partnership to Assist Skaters and Shooters Clinic on Dec. 2, at Alfond Arena. The P.A.S.S. clinic will be conducted by members of Boston Bruins alumni and Bruins Youth Hockey Development Team. The clinic will be open to 50 current MJBB Squirts and Peewee players (ages 9-12), who will receive on-ice instruction as well as a jersey, gift bag and two tickets to the Dec. 13 Bruins game against the Ottawa Senators. TD Bank will donate $1,000 to the MJBB to go toward further development of youth hockey in the greater Bangor area.
MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
BANGOR — Young’s MMA, in partnership with fight promoter New England Fights and Bangor Police Department, will sponsor an anti-bullying fundraiser and forum 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Sea Dog Brewing Company in Bangor. The event is free but donations to support Bangor P.D.’s bullying outreach and education program will be accepted.
SKIING
The Greater Bangor Women’s Ski and Snowboard Club’s annual signup night and fundraiser will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Ski Rack Sports on 24 Longview Drive near Bangor Mall. The club offers a program of skiing or boarding for the winter season, with great discounts on ski lift tickets, ski or board rentals, clinics, cross-country and more. The club travels by Cyr bus to Sugarloaf four Sundays during the season, and skis in informal groups by ski level. The program must be paid for by cash or check.
CAPE ELIZABETH — Cape Elizabeth High School Alpine Ski Team ski swap 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Cape Elizabeth Middle School Cafetorium. Buy new or used ski gear. Food and drinks will be available. Cash and checks are accepted. Rodgers Ski and Sport will provide new gear. A percentage of the proceeds will benefit the CEHS Alpine ski team.
