ROCKLAND, Maine — The sacrifices of two young Rockland men who gave their lives in World War I will be recognized on Tuesday.
A ceremony to present Maine Gold Star Honorable Service medals will be held at 11 a.m. Veterans Day at Winslow-Holbrook Memorial Park at the intersection of Main Street and Park Drive.
Second Lt. Albert D. Holbrook died of wounds on June 19, 1918, as a prisoner of war, while Pfc. Arthur E. Winslow died of wounds on July 6, 1918.
The state will recognize Maine service members who died during World War I as part of the 100th anniversary commemoration of World War I.
This event is open to the public.
